Fab Lab Education’s mission is to provide benefit to schools, local communities and individuals seeking to learn more about the opportunities afforded by digital fabrication, 3D Printing, rapid prototyping, ‘making’, electronics, coding and design.
Fab Lab Education will provide three key groups in the UK with support, skills and knowledge in digital fabrication:
• We will develop specific sets of activities to highlight the role of STEAM as career choice for Girls at levels KS2, KS3 and KS4.
• We will engage and encourage all of our communities to consider the use of environmentally friendly and recycled/reusable materials as part of any ‘making’ activities using digital fabrication.
Fab Lab London is the City of London’s first purpose built digital fabrication and rapid prototyping workspace – a 4000 sq.ft. creative space with access to digital fabrication tools, an electronics lab and specially design maker classrooms.
At the Lab we have direct access to

We run computing workshops using the Raspberry Pi Kano kit – it’s entry level computing and coding designed for up to 20 students KS2 and KS3.
FireTechCamp host maker camps for all ages from 9-17 inspiring young makers in coding, 3D Design and printing, electronics, robotics and game design.
We run regular sessions for KS2 students – you’ll learn the basics of robotics, machine control and navigating fun mazes.
An intensive 20 week course in digital fabrication hosted in Fab Lab London inconjunction with MIT, Boston. Serious stuff for makers.
Learn the aspects of the Computer Science syllabus for K2& KS3, in context of Space exploration using our nano satellite – packed with an Arduino and sensors.
Ohbot, a kit robot that primary children can assemble in an hour, connect to a computer and bring to life by scripting programs using easy drag-block software modeled on Scratch.
Learn about how things work, take things apart, discover how they work and function, then design something better and far more sustainable. A group challenge for KS3 and KS4 students.
A mobile digital fabrication lab on a bike. We can run pop up events in any location across the UK focused on making with 3D printers, electronics, lasers and design.
Fish, plants and tech. We run day workshops exploring the world of aquaponics specifically designe for KS3 and upwards. Learn how to grow food sustainably in a living ecosystem managed by smart tech.
Our Fab Lab Education workshops and classes are hosted in conjunction with inspiring partners who help us create a compelling and creative curriculum spanning all aspects of Science, Technologt, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The Ultimaker CREATE Educational programme plays a key part in 3D Printing in the UK Education sector by sharing their open source 3D printing technology with everybody.
The Fab Lab Network is a Digital Fabrication initiative lead by Neil Gershenfeld of MIT’s Center For Bits and Atoms. The initiative provides access to advanced digital fabrication workshops for students and makers to make almost anything using technological tools and resources.
Fab Lab Education is the inspired teaching arm of Fab Lab London, the City of London’s first digital fabrication creative workspace. We’re located just 90 seconds from Bank Station.
