CLASS DESCRIPTION: (Ages 8-15) Laser cutting and engraving is a very versatile process used to cut or engrave numerous materials including wood, leather, acrylic, anodized aluminum, Formica, and even mother of pearl. It can also be used to engrave and mark some metals, marble, and stone to create a variety of projects. The laser cutter excels even with fine, intricate work. In this class, you will learn the basics of working with Laser including:
- Safe operation of the laser system
- Setting up files for vector cutting
- Raster engraving and etching
- Material preparation and clean-up
Through the process of learning how to use the Laser, students will take home a living hinge book cover. We will also share some tricks of the trade, our experts have learned to create successful projects.

COVID NOTICE: Class size limited to 5 in-lab participants. Participants will practice safe distancing and will be needing to wear face masks. Fablab will also provide comfortable face shields to participants. In Lab, classes may be canceled if state guidelines regarding group gatherings are restricted.
