Youth

Day Camps

2020-11-06T13:44:03-08:00

We provide a series of hands-on project base camps for youth (ages 8-15) to visualize and engineer their ideas. Camps are typically 1/2 day for 5 days.  We support STEAM-based learning through these camps and provide practical skills that can be implemented in rapidly developing technology industries. Our most successful camps have been our Python coding camps and our Raspberry Pi camps, ideal for your little coders. In addition to FabLab Camps we host and collaborate with local museums and organizations.

Due to Coronavirus restrictions, in Lab camp size has been limited to 5 campers. Virtual options have been added to camps that can accommodate virtual instruction. Please see additional information on the registration page for each camp.

Our camps have been a huge success in the past thanks to the support from our community! This year we have the added support of Tacoma Creates which gives us the ability to add a greater number of scholarships to City of Tacoma residents! If you have any questions for camps, please contact us.

Tacoma Postcards

2020-11-09T12:43:59-08:00

Tacoma Neighborhood Postcard Project 2019 was a micro engagement project supported by an innovation grant from the City of Tacoma and New Tacoma Neighborhood Council that connected Tacoma and Pierce County residents. Local artists presented artwork that was then laser cut into stamps. Residents then stamped and decorated postcards before writing messages stating what they love about Tacoma. Postcards were then randomly mailed to Tacoma and Pierce county residents. Residents enjoyed creating and sending messages, adding our local project to the worldwide Neighborhood Postcard Project that began in San Francisco in 2013.
